Tello
Griselda Tello was born in Tulancingo Hidalgo Mexico. She began her formal training under the guidance of her mother, the late Kasandra Martell. Griselda's reputation as an accomplished artist does not rest on publicity alone, but rather on the quality of her work. She experiences her art through painting the places she loves. From clear lakes, to birch and redwood forests, to colorful fields of wild flowers and mystical mountain scenes, she translates nature's beauty onto canvas. Her work represents over 50 years of painting and teaching experience, having actively exhibited her work in Mexico City, and many galleries throughout the United States. Griselda also has a passion for Mixed media and assemblage art figures, here is what she says about her Spirit Art Dolls: My dolls serve mainly as decoration to some of my collectors, but for others they are messengers of good will, a kind of good luck talisman...quite simply, they are great helpers, like an image of an angel by your front door or besides your bed. These little figures are storytellers, representing the keepers of memories from many cultural traditions. I like to think each one of my little dolls finds its own way to your hands, charged with good energy and inspiration, that they may serve as a focal point for meditation, a gentle reminder of intuition and creativity. My intention is to share with others a little miracle which is still working its magic in me. • • • •~✻~•⊰ ✽ ✾ ✿ ❀ ❁••~✻~• • • • |
My journey into doll making started as a play thing when I was very young my Nana showed me how to make my own dolls with wooden sticks and rags. I imagine she planted the seeds which later on bloomed into my Spirit Art Dolls.
When people ask me why do I make dolls, my answer is always the same, because they make me feel good as they fill my soul with gratitude and peace!
"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance" ~ Aristotle
